Citrix Seeking Tech Trailblazers

Now Accepting Speaking Proposals Focused on Virtualization, Networking and Cloud Computing

Citrix Systems has announced the Citrix Synergy Spring 2010 call for topics.  Taking place May 11 to 14, 2010 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, Synergy Spring is focused on the growing convergence between virtualization, networking and cloud computing. Interoperability and openness are central to this theme, and Citrix encourages technical experts and industry thought leaders to contribute proposals focusing on topics related to real world challenges.

Vendor neutral submissions that address trends, technologies and solutions in the following areas are now being accepted for consideration:

Desktop virtualization is the hottest IT topic today. It can free users and IT organizations from the burden of a traditional PC infrastructure while providing a foundation for next-generation computing. This track will discuss practical realities for delivering corporate desktop to users, as well as the significant benefits companies can achieve through a well-designed desktop virtualization solution

Application virtualization removes considerable administrative burden from IT departments, leaving them free to focus on strategic business needs. This track will focus on proven best practices for managing an application virtualization infrastructure, increasing the number and type of applications that can be delivered, as well as cost savings associated with application virtualization

Server virtualization breaks the one-server-one-operating system and one-server-one-application paradigm, and allows multiple operating systems and applications to run on a single server and allows users to dynamically move workloads between hosts.  This track will examine server virtualization’s role in reducing physical server requirements while increasing server utilization for enterprises worldwide.

Cloud computing has the potential to create a computing revolution in the same way that industrialization revolutionized goods production. It will make production by small operations impractical as large, extremely efficient service providers are able to produce IT infrastructure services in high volume at a low cost. This track will delve into what the cloud means to businesses and how companies can prepare today for the datacenter of tomorrow.

Application networking issues are becoming more prevalent with the influx of devices, applications, regulations and remote workers. This track will examine how the current distributed computing environment places extreme – and seemingly insurmountable – demands on IT. It will also examine how IT can take advantage of existing networking technology to provide a high definition IT experience to all users, no matter the device, location or connection.

The Synergy call for topics encourages submissions from vendors that provide open forums dealing with real world challenges and everyday issues, especially those that highlight the interoperability between products from various vendors. All submissions showing innovative ways to use virtualization, networking and cloud computing concepts to create a dynamic, agile IT infrastructure are encouraged.

Business-level session submissions should focus on the strategies and solutions to help drive efficiency, agility and growth, especially for companies looking to do more with less. Topics focusing on how to cut costs, simplify operations, get more out of existing assets, avoid costly hardware purchases and reduce ongoing maintenance, all supported through the use of real world case studies, statistics and ROI are preferred. C-level and other experts with a broad understanding of business demands and how to address them will receive the highest consideration.

Technical-level submissions should offer in-depth presentations focused on roadmaps and practical implementation studies to help IT professionals thrive in today’s dynamic environment. Topics should focus on installation, configuration or administration of existing and emerging technologies in virtualization, networking and cloud computing. Sessions supported by demos or other examples of the implemented solutions are preferred. Individuals with deep technical backgrounds will receive the highest consideration.

Speaking proposals will be reviewed by a selection committee made up of independent analysts, journalists and enterprise IT professionals. Proposals will be accepted on a rolling basis, but early submission is encouraged. The first round review will begin Oct. 15 followed by a second round of reviews Dec. 4. Notification of speaker acceptance for Synergy 2010 will begin Nov. 20, with final notifications beginning January 15, 2010.
