Bycast Inc., a provider of storage virtualization software for enterprise storage clouds and digital archives, announced today that the company's Chief Executive Officer, Moe Kermani, and a Bycast cloud storage customer, Iowa Health System, will both deliver presentations at Cloud Computing Expo 2009 taking place November 2-4 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in California.
Tony Langenstein, Director of Technology at Iowa Health System, will present a case study "Disaster Recovery in the Storage Cloud" on Tuesday November 3, 2009 at 2:20pm in the cloud storage track #3 breakout session. His presentation will describe lessons learned from delivering Bycast-enabled private cloud storage services to Iowa's state-wide constituents including 14 hospitals and more than 140 clinics. In particular, Mr. Langenstein will share the dramatic story and photos of a catastrophic flood that incapacitated its main data center during a state of emergency, and describe how the Iowa Health System continued to operate and access data successfully throughout that event. The healthcare industry has the most stringent requirements of any industry for data privacy, security, and availability so this presentation will be of interest to those in any industry who are interested in cloud storage and have concerns about these issues.
Mr. Kermani, President and CEO of Bycast, will present "Does Enterprise Cloud Storage Really Exist?" on Wednesday November 4, 2009 at 11:15am in the General Session. His presentation looks at how the market for cloud storage is continuing to heat-up, and numerous cloud storage providers have started to emerge. However, it is not clear if these providers have the required infrastructure components to deliver an enterprise-class service that is supported by service level agreements. This presentation will be of interest to:
- IT departments interested to deliver private cloud storage services to their users
- Service providers that want to offer cloud storage services to their customers
- Organizations that would like to sell and deliver public cloud storage services
"Even though cloud storage is only a recent buzzword, Bycast has been shipping cloud infrastructure software for quite some time," says Terri McClure, Senior Analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group. "Cloud storage is not a new concept - it has been around for years, it's just the buzz that's new."
To make an appointment to meet Mr. Kermani of Bycast, or Mr. Langenstein of Iowa Health, at the conference, contact asaliken@bycast.com or visit the Bycast Booth #109 at Cloud Computing Expo.
