Ideas International Joins The Green Grid

Ideas International (IDEAS) (ASX:IDE), the leading global supplier of actionable comparative intelligence on enterprise IT infrastructure, today announced its membership in The Green Grid. A global consortium of companies, government agencies and educational institutions, The Green Grid is dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centres and business computing ecosystems.

Ideas International is joining The Green Grid as a General Member to collaborate with others in the data centre industry to help organizations improve data centre efficiency and increase energy cost savings.

IDEAS provides its global clients with powerful online tools, such as its Server CAR and Carbon Calculator. IDEAS tools can be used for comparative benchmarking across the world of datacentre systems infrastructure, to assess the ‘greenness’ of a datacentre and model the virtualization and consolidation opportunities across the estate of an organization’s IT infrastructure. They can help CIOs better understand the options to reduce power consumption, physical and environmental footprint, energy consumption and costs and can help Solutions Architects look at the system selection options and analyze their options in detail. Embedded within such tools, the IDEAS Relative Performance Estimate (RPE2) provides licensed users with comparable performance information for server consolidation studies and the initial evaluation phase of server selection.

The Green Grid seeks to provide industry-wide recommendations on best practices, metrics and technologies that will improve overall data centre and business computing energy efficiencies. By joining The Green Grid, IDEAS is helping influence both developers and end users of data centre technology.

“We are very pleased to be a member of The Green Grid,” said Stephen Bowhill, CEO, Ideas International. “IDEAS is committed to providing innovative tools which assist enterprises in modeling and analyzing IT infrastructure and can help companies meet their sustainability, efficiency, environmental and cost reduction programs. We look forward to networking within The Green Grid to discuss how these services can best help in members’ environmental and technology refresh programs and to sharing with and discovering from The Green Grid members what environmental or technical metrics will be important to this community in the future.”
