The Storage Visionary Awards are among the most influential awards in the storage industry. The awards, held in conjunction with the Storage Visions conference--a partner event to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), recognize the companies and products that are advancing storage technologies in the consumer electronics, media and entertainment industries.
"This past year external storage and home storage networking has emerged as a major growth market," said Tom Coughlin, founder and chairman of Storage Visions conference. "Marvell's Plug Computing platform points the way to creating ubiquitous connectivity of devices in the home, it is a step along the path to a true home storage utility. We congratulate Marvell for their creativity and innovation in bringing this product category to the industry."
"We are pleased to be recognized as Storage Visions 2010 Visionary Company in the home consumer electronics space," said Dr. Sehat Sutardja, Marvell Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. "Combining two gigahertz performance, sub one watt of average operating power and low price point suggest a myriad of new applications for plug servers--from entertainment media to home utilities controls to personal health management tools. More importantly, one can imagine a time when millions or even billions of plug servers or "nano clouds" are globally networked to form a "super cloud" of practically unlimited and free computing power."
Marvell is shaping the way consumers treat and access home storage, moving beyond new product development to deliver a complete ecosystem in the home computing and management categories.
