F5 Strengthens Presence and Support in China

F5 opens support centers in Beijing and Shanghai to provide best-in-class service for partners and customers; expands production

F5 Networks has announced the expansion of their support and manufacturing operations to strengthen service levels and operational efficiency in China.

"China is the largest market for F5 in the Asia Pacific region, with great strength in the banking and service provider sectors. This expansion will enable us to better assist both our partners and customers," said Julian Eames, SVP of Business Operations at F5. "Our efforts there demonstrate F5’s continued commitment to grow our business in China and beyond."

Support Centers Deliver Best-in-Class Services
The new F5 support centers will be located in Beijing and Shanghai and will be fully operational by April 2010. The centers will be staffed with highly skilled engineers to support F5’s partners and customers in the greater China region. The China locations join F5’s existing global support centers in Seattle, Spokane, London, Tokyo and Singapore, and will provide the greater China area with enhanced 24x7 coverage.

Many F5 customers rely on Application Delivery Networking solutions in their daily business operations, where any disruption of service can affect costs and revenue. F5 has a long history of providing mission-critical support to clients and achieving industry-leading customer satisfaction results with a focus not only on excellent response times, but also on proactively helping customers avoid any potential issues as their applications and networks evolve.

"One of our key priorities at F5 is to provide partners and customers with world-class technical support to ensure long-term customer satisfaction and success," Eames continued. "With web applications driving more internal processes and external service interactions, it becomes vital for today's enterprises to work with an Application Delivery Networking solutions provider to ensure IT efficiency. Our global support centers enable partners and customers to access a wide range of services including onsite troubleshooting by local experts and 24x7 local language support. And just in case there is ever a technical issue with one of our solutions, we also offer local Return Materials Authorization (RMA) replacement within four hours or the next business day to support our customers’ mission-critical applications."

Increased Production of BIG-IP Hardware
As part of its strategic decision to increase its customer-focused service model in the region, F5 is also expanding the production of its BIG-IP appliances in China. This move will bring the supply of these popular products closer to growth markets in Asia where the solutions are deployed. Hardware devices produced in China will include the BIG-IP 1600, 3600, 3900, 6900, and 8900 appliances.

F5’s manufacturing expansion into China provides access to world-class contract manufacturing facilities where the company can utilize leading-edge technologies, traditional module assembly services, and device testing capabilities. The new manufacturing location is geographically positioned in close proximity to all major supply chain partners and will provide an optimized distribution hub that will benefit customers.

“This manufacturing model will enable us to increase efficiencies and customer satisfaction, while at the same time allowing us to reduce production time and shipping costs,” added Eames.

F5 has already begun its new manufacturing efforts in China, with the company currently shipping the hardware units produced there in December 2009.
