SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/15/11 -- RSA CONFERENCE - BOOTH #1129 -- (NASDAQ: WBSN) - Websense today continued its SaaS-security and customer-driven innovation, announcing Cloud DLP protection for salesforce.com data. Websense is a recognized leader in delivering security through the cloud and the first and only content security provider to deliver security for the cloud, giving IT the power to identify and garner extensive visibility and control over who has access to sensitive data and how they use it, even through SaaS applications.
With Websense® TRITON and its solution modules, the company has delivered a cloud-enabling architecture that can identify and decide which users can send what data to which cloud applications. The unified capabilities available in the TRITON system will include:
- Multiple SaaS and cloud application categories as well as customizable categories for policy application and reporting enabling usage awareness and managing which applications are available and allowed
- User and group policies and reporting for understanding and refining which users have access to these applications
- Data policies and reporting by user, group, and application for deciding what data can be sent by which users to cloud applications, saved from cloud applications, and used across and outside of the organization
In addition to delivering authorized SaaS application-use policy controls, and recognizing the need to extend protection of sensitive and confidential data in the cloud, Websense today announces the first of its kind new Cloud DLP functionality for salesforce.com.
"I frequently hear from IT professionals interested in deploying cloud computing technology such as SaaS, but are held back by data and content security concerns," said Phil Hochmuth, program manager for IDC's Security Products and Services group. "No matter where corporate information travels or resides -- securing the content is key. Solutions that provide visibility and control over how data is accessed and used in the cloud can give enterprises confidence that their data will be safe as they adopt new cloud computing technologies."
As the prime example in the market, more than 87,000 companies realize the business benefit of, and store their customer information and other confidential data in, salesforce.com. This critical data is often downloaded by employees and can be inadvertently exposed or even stolen when it is sent to non-approved destinations and used and stored in unauthorized ways. The new Websense Cloud DLP capability will be able to fingerprint data stored on salesforce.com and enforce policies on how that content is stored, used, and communicated inside and outside of an enterprise. The bottom line for organizations using salesforce.com is that Websense is the first and only solution provider that will be able to protect that data with DLP technology.
"Collaboration and data are increasingly moving outside of organizations into cloud-based SaaS applications," said Devin Redmond, vice president of business development, product management and marketing, Websense. "That is Web-based communication and creates a clear need for IT and security to have visibility and control of users, data, and the applications used over the Web. Additionally, they need to be able to extend protection around that data after it is created and used from those cloud environments. No other security vendor can deliver this level of visibility and control and our latest industry-first capabilities to add data policies directly on information in SaaS applications will increase the ability of organizations to leverage the cloud while increasing security and reducing risk."
This new Websense capability is being built on more than 10 years of cloud-security expertise, supporting thousands of customers worldwide.
