VMWARE FORUM – Nexenta® Systems, a world leader in OpenStorage solutions, today announced that it has collaborated with VMware to ensure its NexentaVSA for VMware View™ will support the newly launched VMware View™ 5.1. This will enable joint customers to streamline and accelerate virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) deployments and storage while improving efficiency and lowering costs.
VMware View 5.1 includes new features that can help ease the deployment of VDI projects. One of these is VMware View Storage Accelerator, which caches common image blocks while reading desktop images to balance the storage load and stop it from spiking during periods of intense I/O activity.
"NexentaVSA for VMware View is designed to take advantage of the innovative advancements within VMware View 5.1,” said Alex Aizman, CTO, Nexenta Systems. “Tight integration between View 5.1 and NexentaVSA brings increased sophistication for storage metrics and provides a ‘view in a box’ for storage configurations. We look forward to working with VMware in the VMware Rapid Desktop Program.”
NexentaVSA for VMware View is a pre-defined, out-of-the-box solution for organizations looking to rapidly deploy VDI while easily managing them in a cost-effective manner. It offers end-to-end provisioning across the storage and VMware View 5.1 tiers, with comprehensive tuning and optimization, ease of management and rapid deployment, by integrating with VMware vSphere®, VMware vCenter™ Server and NexentaStor virtual storage.
“Enterprise customers are looking for ways to accelerate their virtual desktop infrastructure deployment while reducing costs,” said Mason Uyeda, director, End-User Computing Technical Marketing, VMware. “We are excited to be working with Nexenta Systems to bring customers a solution that reduces total cost of ownership associated with a VDI, manages and maintains a secure environment and brings end-users new ways to collaborate and connect across devices.”
