PHOENIX, AZ and PARAMUS, NJ -- (Marketwire) -- 05/07/12 -- LabXpress, a leading clinical laboratory serving AZ, NV, and TX, and Advanced Data Systems (ADS), a major provider of healthcare automation solutions to medical practices of every size and specialty, have successfully collaborated on integrating systems.
Physicians using ADS' MedicsDocAssistant EHR will be enabled to send patient test orders directly to LabXpress. Once the tests are analyzed by LabXpress, the results will be transmitted directly back to the patient's record in MedicsDocAssistant, completely automating the entire orders/results process.
MedicsDocAssistant then notifies the physician that results have been embedded into the patient's record and are ready for review. Higher level alerts are issued whenever results are abnormal.
As an additional patient safety feature, MedicsDocAssistant alerts physicians of all results that should have been received by today's date, but which are still open. This may be used as an indication that the patient has not yet had the test(s) performed, at which point patient reminders can be generated.
Scott Farrell, President of LabXpress, said, "The high level of integration between both companies' systems is extraordinary. It is something about which we are extremely proud on a number of levels, not the least of which is how patients themselves will benefit by this type of technology. Ultimately, it's about patient safety and well being."
David Barzillai, President of ADS noted, "There is no question as to the significance of patient safety and health maintenance operating under this type of technology. At the same time, redundancy, manual labor, and paperwork on the part of the patient, the lab, and the practice are eliminated while workflow and efficiency are maximized across the board."
LabXpress and MedicsDocAssistant's capabilities include the ability for results to be automatically documented in flow sheet format for easy comparison to previous results for those same tests.
The integration between LabXpress and the MedicsDocAssistant EHR is provided at no additional cost to the practice, as part of the companies' collaboration.
Since MedicsDocAssistant is certified for Meaningful Use, the system will also help ensure that physicians ("eligible professionals") obtain their Stage 1 Stimulus Act incentives.
ADS also produces the MedicsPremier system for practices that are interested in comprehensive practice management automation for billing, EDI, scheduling, financial / management reports, and more. The systems integrate as a single, unified solution or are available separately as needed by the practice, and can be utilized in either Customer Hosted or ASP / Cloud format. The ADS MedicsRIS is a wide-ranging, affordable solution for radiology practices of every size and scope.
A live presentation of the LabXpress / ADS integration is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Friday, May 18, 2012 at the Microsoft Building in Tempe, AZ. Contact LabXpress or ADS for details on attending the seminar, or for further information on their products and services.

About LabXpress: One of the goals of LabXpress is to provide low-income individuals with accessible and affordable medical testing services. LabXpress provides individuals with free glucose or cholesterol testing, or both for the minimal fee of $5. This has proven to be important with the rise in insurance premiums, which has caused some individuals to forgo laboratory testing, often to the detriment of their own health. We are locally owned and operated, have friendly and skilled staff members, convenient locations with short wait times, fast and accurate results all at very affordable prices, making us stand out from other laboratories.
About MedicsDocAssistant EHR's certifications: MedicsDocAssistant Version 5.2 is 2011/2012 ONC-ATCB certified by CCHIT© as a complete EHR for Stage 1 Meaningful Use. MedicsDocAssistant Version 6.0 has been tested and certified under the Drummond Group's Electronic Health Records Office of the National Coordinator Authorized Testing and Certification Body (ONC-ATCB) program. This Complete EHR is 2011 / 2012 compliant in accordance with the applicable certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. It does not represent an endorsement by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services or guarantee the receipt of incentive payments, but MedicsDocAssistant EHR Version 5.2 or Version 6.0 will help eligible professionals obtain their Stimulus Act incentives once Meaningful Use on the system has been attained.
