Skytap expects to put out bait next week at VMworld hoping to attract the enterprise to its cloud.
It will introduce a virtual private Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) that can spin up pre-configured multi-VM Cloud Foundry environments reportedly in under a minute in the Skytap Cloud.
It runs a secure VPN connection from the Skytap Cloud to on-premise infrastructure to create a secure self-contained network-isolated Cloud Foundry environment for experimentation, development and testing next-generation applications.

The company says the environments can be built out into complex multi-machine self-scaling environments that can be instantly saved as re-usable templates.
Cloud Foundry environments can be scaled up and down on demand via Skytap's web interface or REST-based API. Customers can also export their entire Cloud Foundry environment from Skytap Cloud to run it in their own on-premise data center.
The Virtual Private PaaS is packaged as a template in the Skytap Cloud that can be spun into a complete Cloud Foundry development stack coupled with a client development workstation running an Eclipse IDE and plug-in for Cloud Foundry.
The open source VMware PaaS Cloud Foundry supports a range of development languages, frameworks and technologies.
Skytap's also got new hybrid cloud capabilities to make it fast, easy and secure for enterprises to adopt its cloud as a seamless extension of their VMware data center infrastructure.
The release offers new ESXi Multi-Machine Templates for VMware's ESX 4.1 and ESXi 5.0; support for ESXi 5.0; and a virtual machine (VM) Import/Export REST-based API that automates the movement of existing VMs between on-premise infrastructure and the Skytap Cloud.
