International Data Corporation (IDC) has released its 2012 MarketScape report profiling and ranking the leading providers in the worldwide human resource business process outsourcing (HR BPO) market. This new research indicates that while prior years were marked by mergers and acquisitions, 2011 and 2012 thus far have been quiet on the M&A front, leaving a relatively stable field. This analysis did find that a significant number of vendors are exploring a platform based on SaaS provider Workday.
IDC MarketScape: Worldwide HR BPO 2012 Vendor Analysis (IDC #237630) evaluates the offerings and prospects of nine vendors' relative capabilities. These providers were evaluated using detailed criteria that IDC identified as key factors contributing to vendor success in the worldwide HR BPO market. The vendors included in the analysis are Accenture, Aon Hewitt, ADP, Hewlett Packard, IBM, Infosys, NortgateArinso, Tata Consultancy Services, and Xerox HR Services. The IDC MarketScape methodology placed Accenture, ADP and IBM in the Leaders category.
"The vendors covered in this analysis generally all provide mature service offerings with similar strengths and weaknesses. However, emerging technologies across cloud, mobile, social, and big data/analytics may prove to be game changers in the next few years," said Lisa Rowan, research vice president, HR, Talent, and Learning Strategies for IDC. "Platforms and platform strategy have always played an important role in HR BPO services and a move to cloud platforms like Workday may be game changing. Social and mobile open up new, more efficient ways to communicate with clients and clients' employees. HR is clamoring for help with actionable HR metrics, both operational and strategic. Delivering on both types of analyses will be a real differentiator for providers that are able to do so effectively."
