Red River, a widely recognized leader in IT hardware integration, maintenance and support services to the U.S. government, today announced that it has hired a new director of managed services. Richard Ackerman, formally of Glasshouse Technologies, will immediately assume the position, adding to Red River’s growing list of top tier executive talent and bolstering the company’s strong commitment to delivering total lifecycle IT management for its government and enterprise customers.
“We are excited about Richard’s decision to join Red River’s executive team and know that the addition of such a high caliber, experienced manager will strengthen our ability to provide complete managed services to our clients,” said Dan McGee, senior vice president of operations for Red River. “With the changes in IT consumption models and growing customer demands to receive technology as a service, Red River sees managed services as a clear path to bringing higher value to our customers and OEM partners – and we strongly believe that Richard’s leadership will help us fulfill that vision.”
Red River’s managed services practice complements the company’s established professional services deployments, support services and proven ability to assess, design, implement and operate IT solutions on a global scale. By offering an array of managed services, including monitoring and management, phone support, fault resolution, on-site support, quality assurance reporting and coordination with the appropriate OEMs as required, Red River can assist in the operation of technical environments after they’ve been deployed. These services free clients from the arduous demands of continually managing and maintaining a complex IT infrastructure.
Mr. Ackerman will be leading a team of Red River’s highly certified experts that possess a strong understanding of solutions from hundreds of OEMs. Ackerman himself brings deep experience to his new role with Red River. In his previous position with Glasshouse Technologies, he was director of global delivery in the infrastructure operations service group, where he built and managed a $15 million services delivery organization that served more than 150 global customers. Prior to that, Mr. Ackerman was the director of engineering at Storability/Storagetek, where he designed and developed the services architecture, processes, and procedures for delivery of managed services.
At Red River, Mr. Ackerman will solidify and extend the company’s managed services portfolio. He will help build-out and promote Red River’s Infrastructure as a Service (IAAS) platform, beginning with Hosted Voice and furthering the company’s ability to deliver Cloud Services to clients. He will also develop a break/fix and first-call model for Red River’s strategic OEM partners and establish external-facing web services to deliver metrics and analysis to customers based on service usage. All of these initiatives will increase Red River’s value to its customers and strategic OEM partners.
