SEATTLE, WA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/26/12 -- Symform, a revolutionary, distributed cloud backup service, today announced that Praerit Garg, co-founder and president, was named one of CRN's Top 100 Executives in the IT Channel for 2012. According to CRN award organizers, Garg was recognized as a Top 25 Disruptor for driving changes in channel industry dynamics, and for fostering additional revenue opportunities for channel partners. CRN's annual Top 100 Channel Executives list salutes the most influential and innovative channel executives in North America.

"We're recognizing this year's Top 100 Executives for their commitment to the channel," said Kelley Damore, vice president and editorial director for UBM Channel. "For 2012, our goal was to once again shine a spotlight on the most influential executives in the industry today. But we also wanted to pay homage to the channel advocates, sales and services leaders, innovators and disrupters. We salute all these leaders for their devotion to the technology channel and their willingness to adopt new strategies and policies in order to drive greater sales for partners, while positioning their own company for future growth."

As co-founder and president of Symform, Garg leads the pack of the Top 25 Disruptors with CRN noting that, "Symform has changed the way we think about the cloud... all while fostering a dedicated group of followers that is poised for growth over the next few years."

Garg is disrupting the IT channel and cloud storage markets by delivering the industry's first free and unlimited cloud storage and backup offering. Symform's new 'Bytes or Bucks' pricing model offers a unique value proposition for partners by allowing them to add high-performing secure cloud data backup to their solutions and services at a fraction of the cost of other cloud solutions. The Symform Partner Program spans resellers, strategic alliances, NAS and OEM partners, enabling Symform to build the world's largest virtual data center. Symform's Global Cloud Storage Network is achieving record growth in 2012, with customers currently storing more than 5.5 billion data fragments and 150 million files across 160 countries.

"Building Symform's channel and partner program is foundational to the future growth of our global cloud storage network," said Praerit Garg, co-founder and president at Symform. "Being recognized amongst the Top 100 Channel Executives and Top 25 Disruptors validates our commitment to providing partners with the most affordable, secure and reliable cloud storage and backup solution in the industry."

Executives on the Top 100 list are organized into four categories, including channel sales leaders, most influential, innovators, and disruptors. Winners were chosen based on nominations from solution providers and ranked based on channel influence, effectiveness and visibility, and business and sales impact. Among the criteria were channel sales volume, channel investment and resources, channel advocacy and visibility, and performance in UBM Channel research projects (including the Annual Report Card and Channel Champions). A panel of UBM Channel editors made the final selections.
Expanded coverage of the 2012 Top 100 Executives is featured in the November issue of CRN Magazine and online at www.crn.com.

TechCrunch reported that "Berlin-based relayr, maker of the WunderBar, an Internet of Things (IoT) hardware dev kit which resembles a chunky chocolate bar, has closed a $2.3 million seed round, from unnamed U.S. and Switzerland-based investors. The startup had previously raised a €250,000 friend and family round, and had been on track to close a €500,000 seed earlier this year — but received a higher funding offer from a different set of investors, which is the $2.3M round it’s reporting."
The Industrial Internet revolution is now underway, enabled by connected machines and billions of devices that communicate and collaborate. The massive amounts of Big Data requiring real-time analysis is flooding legacy IT systems and giving way to cloud environments that can handle the unpredictable workloads. Yet many barriers remain until we can fully realize the opportunities and benefits from the convergence of machines and devices with Big Data and the cloud, including interoperability, data security and privacy.
