Huawei Opens Doors to Middle East Executive Briefing Centre

Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, has opened its Middle East Executive Briefing Centre in Dubai, an immersive demonstration space designed for customers and partners to experience the company’s entire Enterprise Business product and solutions portfolio. Visitors to the Executive Briefing centre can experience Huawei’s solutions through a wide variety of simulations and interactive displays that model potential impact on their organisations.

Huawei provides innovative ICT solutions to its customers in government, oil & gas, transportation, finance, public utilities and other industry sectors. There are six areas in the Huawei Executive Briefing centre, showcasing each of Huawei Enterprise’s product lines. They include: security, enterprise networks, Unified Communications & Collaboration (UC&C), cloud computing, industry vertical solutions and wireless.

New showroom is a symbol of regional growth

The launch of the centre coincides with Huawei’s increasing success in the region. The company recorded contract sales in 2011 of USD 3.2 billion in the Middle East, a 20% increase over 2010, representing 13% of the company’s global business.

Huawei’s reasons for setting up the showroom: “The new showroom is a direct response to growing interest in ICT products and solutions in the region,” explained Dong Wu, vice president, Huawei Enterprise Middle East. “Customers and prospects are keen to see the technology in action, so we designed interactive demonstrations that allow visitors to explore solutions and model scenarios that show how our technology can help them solve a business challenge.”

Security is an area of growing concern to organizations of all sizes in the Middle East, as Mobility, Cloud Computing and personal devices present new security challenges. Huawei’s Enterprise Security framework gives corporations a consolidated approach to security that is based on prevention, discovery, protection, control and response.

The explosion in digital data means that businesses of all sizes need high speed networks to store and transfer their data. The Enterprise Networks area shows how Huawei’s Intelligent Network Switches & Routers help enterprises cope with increasing traffic loads caused by ever-growing ICT applications, growth in video traffic and more widespread use of Cloud Computing. Huawei’s Enterprise Network Solutions provide stable, reliable and secure services to help businesses build scalable, virtualized and converged fabric architectures in branch, campus and data centers.

Many businesses have invested in basic Cloud Computing technologies, but have not yet seen it take full shape, so visitors can see practical examples of how the cloud works. The cloud offers the growing number of SMBs in the region the chance to access broader IT resources at a fraction of the cost, helping them achieve business growth at a faster pace than before. Larger organisations needing to manage, access and store growing volumes of data, as well as having to meet the high cost of purchasing and running IT equipment, benefit from the consolidation of IT resources that cloud computing brings.

The migration of business across the globe towards ‘Green’ Storage Solutions is a trend that Huawei is embracing and is part of its strategy to create value for customers in the Middle East. To Huawei ‘greenness’ is not only about reducing power consumption but also about managing the end-to-end process from manufacturing to recycling. Customers visiting the center will be able to view static storage units including Fiber Channel and Network Access Storage (NAS) IP storage, virtual tape libraries as well as a range of traditional storage devices for enterprise data centers designed to be recyclable and reusable.

While cost saving remains a big attraction for organisations deciding to deploy UC&C solutions, Huawei has recently seen a shift in focus to employee productivity and satisfaction. The Unified Communications and Collaboration stop at the Executive Briefing Centre tour lets visitors try out technologies like video conferencing, IP Contact Center and Intelligent Surveillance Systems to better visualise advances in concepts like the remote and mobile office.

In the Wireless solution area, visitors can explore voice applications such as Push-to-Talk, which is essential for security agencies to effectively tackle emergency situations, and data applications such as mobile video surveillance, SCADA, ultra long-distance data transmissions for off-shore oilfield platforms and wireless broadband access for ultra high speed scenarios of up to 450kmph. Huawei Enterprise’s secure wireless communication platforms including LTE, CDMA, WiMAX are based on global standards and are used by security agencies and energy and transport industry companies across the Middle East. Today, Huawei’s wireless solutions (3G/LTE) now owns the largest market share in the operator’s field in the Middle East, with the capabilities of supplying customized solution to enterprise customers.
