SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Clustrix, the scale-out SQL database for Big Data applications, announced today the appointment of Mary Godwin as vice president of operations.
"Mary joins Clustrix as we experience worldwide expansion," said Robin Purohit, Clustrix CEO. "Her 20+ years and proven track record in supply chain management and strategic operations for leading global companies makes Mary an invaluable addition to our management team."
"Clustrix's customers are global businesses powering their growth with innovative Big Data applications," said Mary Godwin, Clustrix's new vice president of operations. "I welcome the challenge of assuring our customers' success and contributing to the rise of a game-changing company such as Clustrix."
According to IDC, the Big Data market will soar to $16.9 billion by 2015 from $3.2 billion in 2012. More than 100 terabytes of data is uploaded daily to Facebook alone. Big Data applications demand a modern scale-out relational database that provides a foundation for growth. With the Clustrix database, any company can scale incrementally and infinitely to unlimited users, transactions and data for web, mobile, social, and real-time enterprise applications.
The Clustrix Scale-Out Database
Clustrix is a modern, SQL relational database that delivers real-time, high integrity transactions at high concurrency without costly and complex scale-up or predatory licensing from legacy vendors. Clustrix is a fault tolerant solution that is proven in environments worldwide.
In July, Clustrix released its high-performance SQL database-as-a-service (DBaaS) extending Clustrix's scalability, performance and availability to the cloud. The Clustrix DBaaS introduces simple, transparent pricing (www.clustrix.com/pricing) with no meters or limits on transactions, data size or number of users.
Prior to joining Clustrix, Mary was vice president of operations at Isilon (now EMC Isilon), heading up the company's supply chain and product manufacturing operations. Prior to Isilon, she served as vice president of product and supply chain management at Lucent Technologies (now Alcatel-Lucent) where she developed and implemented product lifecycle strategies to support more than $3 billion in annual revenue.
Ms. Godwin has a twenty year career in operations and supply chain management including leadership positions at Solectron, Set Engineering, Philips Electronics, Radius, Inc., and Apple Computer, in addition to Lucent and Isilon. Ms. Godwin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in plastics engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Santa Clara University.
