KARLSKRONA, Sweden, Jan. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Compuverde, the Big Data storage solution for service providers, telecommunications companies and enterprises, today announced that it has partnered with Stanford University to mentor computer science students enrolled in CS210 throughout a software design project. Compuverde is one of several corporate project partners who will be helping students design innovative software solutions for use in a corporate setting. Final projects will be showcased at Stanford's Software Faire in June.
"Stanford is recognized worldwide as a hotbed for computer science talent development," said Stefan Bernbo, CEO and founder of Compuverde. "We are thrilled and honored to collaborate with the students and instructors of CS210 as a corporate project partner. Compuverde is looking forward to supporting the world's brightest upcoming computer science talent as they seek novel solutions to high energy consumption in data centers and other deeply entrenched industry problems."
In this course, Stanford students are introduced to the tools, methods and strategies needed to form and successfully manage software design and development projects to the standards of corporate partners such as Compuverde. Successful projects will focus on developing innovative approaches to address existing, significant business pains and new-product-related innovation challenges driven by real-world issues.
"It is my belief that once a student reaches a certain threshold of proficiency in computer science, the most effective learning mechanism from that point forward is the experience of applying his or her skills to real challenges that exist in a given industry," said Jay Borenstein, Stanford instructor. "Time and time again, I've seen incredible student growth as they grapple with the increased scope that comes with working toward an industry outcome as opposed to the completion of an academic exercise. I am pleased to have Compuverde involved in our CS210 industry project collaboration course at Stanford and look forward to a successful and educational experience."
