Proximal Data, the leading provider of server-side caching solutions specifically designed for virtualized environments, today announced that its AutoCache fast virtual cache software has been named a Storage magazine/SearchStorage.com Storage System Software 2012 Products of the Year finalist. AutoCache is the only virtual caching solution to optimize and increase virtual machine (VM) density in server virtualization environments without requiring guest OS agents.
Proximal Data’s AutoCache software was purpose-built for server virtualization and dramatically increases server VM density up to 3x by eliminating I/O bottlenecks with automated I/O caching. AutoCache significantly improves server virtualization performance and efficiency without disrupting IT operations or processes. AutoCache also works with industry-standard flash PCIe cards or solid state drives.
AutoCache plugs in to VMware ESXi to work dynamically from inside the hypervisor without disrupting other VMware technologies such as vMotion. Managed by a tab in vSphere/vCenter, AutoCache is remarkably easy to deploy and maintain.
This is the 11th annual Storage magazine/SearchStorage.com Products of the Year awards. Proximal Data is one of 11 finalists in the Storage System Software category. Three winners — gold, silver and bronze — will be announced in each category in the February issue of Storage magazine. Proximal Data was chosen as a finalist out of a total of 170 entries in various categories.
“We are excited to have been selected as a finalist in the Storage System Software category where there is a great appreciation for the type of innovation that we are bringing to the market,” stated Rory Bolt, founder/CEO, Proximal Data. “We see a tremendous amount of interest in our solution because it adds real value either by increasing VM density or by accelerating business-critical applications, yet it is completely transparent to the customer’s server virtualization environment and IT operations.”
