CAMPBELL, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/25/13 -- Rainmaker Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: RMKR), a recognized technology leader in the rapidly emerging Commerce-as-a-Service sector, announced today that it is expanding its UK-based Global Commerce Services operation to extend and strengthen its value-added services to enterprise customers. The Global Commerce Services expansion is part of an internal shift in corporate resources previously allocated to Rainmaker's Austin, Texas, facility, which the company expects to wind down within three months.
Rainmaker expects to add approximately 60 employees to the Global Commerce Services facility, whose mission is to provide high-value services to enterprise customers, particularly those using Rainmaker's GrowCommerce platform. At the same time, Rainmaker is winding down its Austin, Texas, facility, which similarly employs approximately 60 employees. Some Austin employees are expected to transition to the company's Global Commerce Services operation.
The shift in resources follows last week's announcement that all of the company's Austin-based finance operations were to migrate to Rainmaker's Silicon Valley headquarters in Campbell, CA, under incoming Chief Financial Officer Mallorie Burak. Today's actions are designed to complete the migration of all of the company's U.S. Finance and Administration functions to the Silicon Valley headquarters.
Rainmaker expects that, after the resource shift is completed in three months, annual savings benefiting operating income will total approximately $750,000. The company expects the transition to result in higher levels of service to customers. Rainmaker intends to provide detail about these actions and its entire 2013 growth initiative in its Q4 2012 earnings announcement and investor call, to be conducted before the end of the current quarter.
"Today's actions are designed to maximize service to Rainmaker's enterprise customers by concentrating resources in our Global Commerce Services operation and at the same time realizing significant operating savings," said Rainmaker Chief Executive Officer Donald J, Massaro, who joined the company last month. "This strategic reallocation is part of a comprehensive 2013 initiative designed to leverage our GrowCommerce platform's extensive scale and provide unsurpassed value to our enterprise customers. We are focusing tightly on business that combines high growth, high value and unsurpassed productivity -- like our unrivaled 28-language, EMEA-based Global Commerce Services operation. Combined with the GrowCommerce platform, our Global Commerce Services provide enterprise customers a turnkey solution that enables quick market entry and rapid growth. This strategic reallocation also logically requires relocating Austin-based operations to our corporate headquarters in Silicon Valley. We are grateful to our Austin-based employees, and we are hopeful that a number of them are able to make the move to our Global Commerce Services organization."
Rainmaker Systems is a recognized technology leader in the rapidly emerging Commerce-as-a-Service sector.
