Revel Touch, a technology innovator in mobile ecommerce, today announced that it is has appointed Joe Davis as Chief Executive Officer. A high-growth executive with expertise in retail and cloud-based technologies, Davis brings more than 25 years of leadership experience to Revel Touch. He previously served as President and CEO of Coremetrics (acquired by IBM) and held executive roles at Nortel, PeopleSoft and IBM. As CEO of Revel Touch, he will be responsible for driving the company’s accelerating growth.
"Joe brings deep expertise in retail and enterprise technology, and a proven record in scaling companies to meet accelerated client demand," said Mar Hershenson, founder of Revel Touch. "It is a tremendous pleasure to welcome him to the team as we continue to build out our touch-commerce platform and innovate the new era of shopping."
Davis joins Revel Touch as the company continues to post record growth for its cloud-based touch commerce solution. A rapidly expanding list of world-class brands and retailers, including Anthropologie, Oriental Trading Company, Conde Nast’s Lucky Magazine, Gymboree, Design Within Reach and more, turn to Revel Touch to create beautiful touch-optimized shopping experiences that bring together product, media and social capabilities. Experiences can be published as apps or in HTML5, and can be fully customized and live in eight to 12 weeks to allow clients to take advantage of the most advanced, touch-optimized merchandising in the industry. Shoppers using Revel Touch-powered experiences average 18 page views per session (versus two for mobile phone and four for traditional e-commerce) and spend $185 per order (versus $80 for mobile phone and $102 for traditional).
“The era of the PC is fading as everyday more of us use tablets to work, play, connect and shop,” said Davis. “Revel Touch’s platform will accelerate this trend as it enables clients to rapidly build and update the most compelling tablet applications available in the market. I am very excited to be guiding this industry leader in the next phase of its growth.”
Davis previously served as President and CEO of Coremetrics, which was acquired by IBM in 2010. Davis was charged with the company’s turnaround, including a change in product strategy and a complete rebuilding of its technology, infrastructure and management team. In this role, he grew the company revenues 15X, increased gross margins from 35% to 70%, and increased annual EBITDA from negative $10MM to $8MM during his tenure. Davis also completed two fund raising rounds bringing in a combined $60MM and completed the strategic acquisition of IBM’s SurfAid Division (2006). He remained with IBM to complete the integration of Coremetrics’ leading cloud-based software for web, social and mobile marketing.
Before joining Coremetrics as president and CEO, he led worldwide development, strategy, marketing and customer support operations for the CRM business arm within PeopleSoft, the world's second-largest enterprise application software company. Prior to his tenure at PeopleSoft, Davis served as president of Nortel Networks' eBusiness division, where he held full P&L responsibility for a division of 1,500 employees and over $300 million in revenues.
