Troubleshooting Tips: VMware iSCSI

  • Use resignature if necessary, it is harmless.
  • Sometimes the vCenter initiator screws up (e.g. a message that the target is “already mounted”, when it’s not). In those cases it is better to connect directly to the ESXi server and retry.
    • This has saved us twice!
  • It’s OK to remove targets from the “static listener” tab. But removing from the “dynamic lkistener” tab is dangerous, it can easily hang the whole initiator and force an ESX login.
