Bye-Bye Tivoli, Welcome Cloud and Smarter Infrastructure: A New Brand in IBM

The new configuration, says IBM, reflects the evolution of client needs and IBM’s portfolio

In an internal reorg, IBM's Tivoli, Maximo, TRIRIGA, Endpoint Manager, and Netcool branded offerings, as well as its SmartCloud service management offerings, are now to be clustered under an "overarching umbrella" called IBM Cloud & Smarter Infrastructure. The new division, says IBM, reflects the evolution of client needs and IBM’s portfolio.

This means that the IBM Software Group division formerly referred to as "IBM Tivoli" will now be known solely by the new name.

One executive formerly known as GM of Tivoli Software, Deepak Advani, has not yet updated his Twitter bio, but nonetheless exhuberantly announces via that account that he is "Jazzed about the future being shaped by Analytics, Cloud, Big Data."

IBM Sr. Marketing Manager Cameron O'Connor notes that all of these branded offerings listed above will "remain under the renamed division, as do their roadmaps."

Another GM of Tivoli Software, Dr Danny Sabbah, will be keynoting at 12th Cloud Expo | Cloud Expo New York.

Sabbah has recently been named as CTO and General Manager, Next Generation Platform, at IBM. He has responsibility for aligning the overall direction IBM is pursuing around cloud and mobility to a more coherent, next generation architecture. Involved will be Software (middleware and application services), servers/storage/networking in software defined infrastructure leading to more dynamic and scalable IBM Cloud Services.

"Balancing innovation with preservation and optimization of existing investments for our clients and customers in that next generation architecture is the goal," Sabbah notes.
