  • Strong Q4 with EBIT margin of 7.2% (previous year: 5.8%)
  • EBIT for 2013 up 15.6% to MEUR 22.2
  • Headcount stands at 3,078 as at December 31, 2013
  • Forecast for 2014: Revenues increase to more than MEUR 500 with EBIT margin of around 5.5%

itelligence AG concluded fiscal year 2013 with further growth in revenues and income. Revenues rose by 18.1% from MEUR 114.6 to MEUR 135.3 in the fourth quarter. In fiscal year 2013, itelligence thus increased its revenues by 12.3% from MEUR 407.1 to MEUR 457.1. Dynamic organic growth and the strong performance of the companies acquired last year were factors in these good results. Orders on hand at itelligence AG were up 22.7% to MEUR 351.6 as at December 31, 2013 as against MEUR 286.6 at the end of 2012.

Herbert Vogel, CEO of itelligence AG, comments: "We are delighted with our company's revenue growth and performance. The strong fourth quarter quite clearly shows that we are on the right path. We are especially proud to have received the SAP® North America Regional Partner Excellence "Top Business All-in-One Reseller" award from SAP in the USA for the sixth consecutive year."

In the individual revenue segments, Consulting increased its revenues by 1.6% from MEUR 211.5 to MEUR 214.9. Revenues in Outsourcing & Services rose by 16.7% from MEUR 116.3 in the previous year to MEUR 135.7. Application Management also performed strongly, with revenues up 21.5% from MEUR 40.4 to MEUR 49.1. License business posted the biggest revenue growth in percentage terms, with significant 48.6%. Revenues here increased from MEUR 38.3 to MEUR 56.9 in fiscal year 2013.

In terms of geographical distribution, itelligence again recorded particularly strong revenue growth in Eastern Europe. Revenues here were up 50.3% at MEUR 48.1 compared with MEUR 32.0 in the previous year. Western Europe also achieved substantial revenue growth of 20.8% from MEUR 86.7 to MEUR 104.7 in 2013. The USA segment also put in a strong performance with growth of 8.5%, generating revenues of MEUR 100.5 as against MEUR 92.6 in the previous year. In the largest segment, DACH (Germany/Austria/Switzerland), revenues increased by 4.3% from MEUR 185.0 to MEUR 192.9. The Asia segment generated revenues of MEUR 7.1 in fiscal year 2013 compared with MEUR 7.0 (+1.4%) in the previous year. Revenues in the Other segment were unchanged from the previous year at MEUR 3.8.

Along with the increased revenues, itelligence AG also improved all its earnings figures. This was mostly attributable to the strong fourth quarter, in which EBIT (earnings before interest and taxes) rose by 48.5% from MEUR 6.6 to MEUR 9.8. The EBIT margin improved from 5.8% to 7.2%. For the year as a whole, EBIT thus increased by 15.6% from MEUR 19.2 in the previous year to MEUR 22.2 in 2013. Accordingly, the EBIT margin improved by 0.2 percentage points from 4.7% to 4.9%. In the past fiscal year, consolidated net profit rose by 18.2% from MEUR 13.7 to MEUR 16.2.

Norbert Rotter, CFO of itelligence AG, comments: "All divisions and regions contributed to this strong revenue growth in fiscal year 2013. In particular, the revenue share for recurring business increased to 40%. With this strong growth, we have also managed to further improve our profitability. For the first time in the history of itelligence AG, we have more than 3,000 employees worldwide - at the end of the year, our headcount stood at 3,078."

In light of the encouraging order situation, itelligence AG's strong market positioning and the good performance of the acquisitions, the Management Board is forecasting further growth in revenues and a further improvement in the earnings situation in fiscal year 2014. Revenues in 2014 are expected to exceed MEUR 500, corresponding to a rise of around 10%. Earnings are expected to record a stronger improvement than revenues. itelligence aims to achieve an EBIT margin of around 5.5%.

Further figures and details can be found in the 2013 Annual Report, which will be published on March 27, 2014.

We all know the latest numbers: Gartner, Inc. forecasts that 6.4 billion connected things will be in use worldwide in 2016, up 30 percent from last year, and will reach 20.8 billion by 2020. We're rapidly approaching a data production of 40 zettabytes a day – more than we can every physically store, and exabytes and yottabytes are just around the corner. For many that’s a good sign, as data has been proven to equal money – IF it’s ingested, integrated, and analyzed fast enough. Without real-ti...

I wanted to gather all of my Internet of Things (IOT) blogs into a single blog (that I could later use with my University of San Francisco (USF) Big Data “MBA” course). However as I started to pull these blogs together, I realized that my IOT discussion lacked a vision; it lacked an end point towards which an organization could drive their IOT envisioning, proof of value, app dev, data engineering and data science efforts. And I think that the IOT end point is really quite simple…
A critical component of any IoT project is what to do with all the data being generated. This data needs to be captured, processed, structured, and stored in a way to facilitate different kinds of queries. Traditional data warehouse and analytical systems are mature technologies that can be used to handle certain kinds of queries, but they are not always well suited to many problems, particularly when there is a need for real-time insights.
Big Data, cloud, analytics, contextual information, wearable tech, sensors, mobility, and WebRTC: together, these advances have created a perfect storm of technologies that are disrupting and transforming classic communications models and ecosystems. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Erik Perotti, Senior Manager of New Ventures on Plantronics’ Innovation team, provided an overview of this technological shift, including associated business and consumer communications impacts, and opportunities it ...
You think you know what’s in your data. But do you? Most organizations are now aware of the business intelligence represented by their data. Data science stands to take this to a level you never thought of – literally. The techniques of data science, when used with the capabilities of Big Data technologies, can make connections you had not yet imagined, helping you discover new insights and ask new questions of your data. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Sarbjit Sarkaria, data science team lead ...
Extracting business value from Internet of Things (IoT) data doesn’t happen overnight. There are several requirements that must be satisfied, including IoT device enablement, data analysis, real-time detection of complex events and automated orchestration of actions. Unfortunately, too many companies fall short in achieving their business goals by implementing incomplete solutions or not focusing on tangible use cases. In his general session at @ThingsExpo, Dave McCarthy, Director of Products...
