What is Visibility Fabric?

visibility fabricA comprehensive view

When you can see it, you can control it and that is the idea behind the Visibility Fabric developed by Gigamon.  Everyday technology is being reshaped by cloud computing and Big Data and businesses are totally dependent on the data that traverses across their networks.  While this calls for a reliable infrastructure, which can be derived from tools such as performance managers, analyzers, and security, which will bring to light the communication and network, traffic within the network.

However, most of these tools are limited in their abilities as they can only see a part of the network traffic and deploying multiples of the same tools may bring visibility up only to a certain level with various parts of the infrastructure still being invisible while shooting the cost up.  In addition, the number of tools installed are limited so are the number of ports.

This makes the data that filters through these tools to be irrelevant to the user and only helps in flooding the networks.  Gigamon has helped put this technology in the past and has brought the future nearer through the Visibility Fabric, which has fabric nodes and an advanced level of filtering intelligence, which now sorts through the immense traffic to manipulate, identify, and filter only relevant traffic to centralized tools.  The Visibility Fabric architecture makes the entire infrastructure visible across the physical as well as virtual environment and can also scale with the evolving technology and IT needs.

Now companies can filter the data and classify it according to priority and deliver the relevant content to the right place for analysis or usage.  This is done with the help of the patented Flow Mapping® technology, which forms the core of the Fabric and works on user-defined rules.  The flexibility is tremendous and one can even modify the traffic to conceal confidential data and also to remove unnecessary data such as extraneous headers and duplicate information.  The Fabric is therefore, necessary to effectively manipulate and modify data but there are also other uses.  It ensures the reliability of the architecture provides security and also significantly boosts the efficiency of the infrastructure.

Digital Transformation is much more than a buzzword. The radical shift to digital mechanisms for almost every process is evident across all industries and verticals. This is often especially true in financial services, where the legacy environment is many times unable to keep up with the rapidly shifting demands of the consumer. The constant pressure to provide complete, omnichannel delivery of customer-facing solutions to meet both regulatory and customer demands is putting enormous pressure on...
IoT is rapidly becoming mainstream as more and more investments are made into the platforms and technology. As this movement continues to expand and gain momentum it creates a massive wall of noise that can be difficult to sift through. Unfortunately, this inevitably makes IoT less approachable for people to get started with and can hamper efforts to integrate this key technology into your own portfolio. There are so many connected products already in place today with many hundreds more on the h...
The standardization of container runtimes and images has sparked the creation of an almost overwhelming number of new open source projects that build on and otherwise work with these specifications. Of course, there's Kubernetes, which orchestrates and manages collections of containers. It was one of the first and best-known examples of projects that make containers truly useful for production use. However, more recently, the container ecosystem has truly exploded. A service mesh like Istio addr...

To Really Work for Enterprises, MultiCloud Adoption Requires Far Better and Inclusive Cloud Monitoring and Cost Management … But How? Overwhelmingly, even as enterprises have adopted cloud computing and are expanding to multi-cloud computing, IT leaders remain concerned about how to monitor, manage and control costs across hybrid and multi-cloud deployments. It’s clear that traditional IT monitoring and management approaches, designed after all for on-premises data centers, are falling short in ...
