RESTON, Va., Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Emergent OnLine, an IT Solutions Provider and one of the most trusted IT integrators in the Washington metropolitan area, announced that it received a $1.5 Million award to modernize the desktop computing infrastructure of a US Department of Defense agency, transforming it into a virtual desktop infrastructure, leveraging the Provision Networks Dynamic Desktop Deployment platform, the VMware Virtual Infrastructure foundation, and the Microsoft SoftGrid application virtualization and streaming technologies.
"This award is a validation for the leading edge virtualization solutions and their associated technical and business value propositions that we are bringing to the table for clients," said Hermia Johnson, Director of Public Sector Solutions with Emergent OnLine.
The enterprise solution proposed and awarded to Emergent OnLine includes VMware Virtual Infrastructure, Provision Networks, and Microsoft SoftGrid at the core. The virtualized infrastructure will enable the DoD agency to securely deploy on-demand virtualized applications and desktops to users regardless of location, simplifying enterprise desktop management and delivering a dynamic desktop deployment experience.
Emergent OnLine designed, architected and piloted the winning solution and showcased the seamless integration of the three core technologies proposed. The DoD agency will be able to virtualize application and desktop publishing with Provision Networks technologies, stream the applications to virtualized desktops hosted on VMware Virtual Infrastructure or Provision Networks terminal servers with Microsoft SoftGrid technologies, and host the entire virtualized infrastructure in secure data centers on the VMware platform.
Beyond the simplified desktop management and dynamic desktop deployment benefits, the solution affords the agency better mobility, security, control, and business continuity.
