2007 - 2014 - 2021 : deux septennats, pour changer le monde des Systèmes d’Information (deuxième partie)

 

DPC Speed 3 men long 54291337Dans la première partie de cette analyse, j’ai présenté le premier septennat de la R2I, Révolution Industrielle Informatique, qui a vu l’émergence d’un grand nombre de technologies innovantes dans les infrastructures et les usages informatiques.

Dans cette deuxième partie, je vous propose d’imaginer comment les entreprises innovantes vont accélérer le déploiement de toutes ces solutions opérationnelles, qui ne demandent qu’une chose aux entreprises : « S’il vous plait, mettez-nous en œuvre ! »

 

Navigateurs, indépendance Infrastructures et Usages

Ce message, je le pousse souvent dans ce blog, et il prend, chaque jour, plus de sens.

Pour tirer parti des évolutions toujours plus rapides des infrastructures et des applications, les responsables informatiques ont une réponse à la fois simple et pérenne :

Les navigateurs sont les seuls interfaces autorisés entre les applications et les infrastructures

Infrastructures - Usages - BrowserC’est la seule exigence stratégique vraiment universelle qui réponde, dans les entreprises, aux challenges de l’évolution rapide des technologies : 

  • Tout nouvel objet d’accès disposera d’un navigateur et pourra donc accéder aux applications existantes.
  • Toute nouvelle application SaaS déployée dans l’entreprise pourra être utilisée depuis tous les objets d’accès existants.
  • Les applications cœur métiers, développées sur mesure et qui s’appuient sur HTML5 seront, elles aussi, accessibles depuis tous les objets d’accès.

Cette démarche permet surtout de désynchroniser les mises en œuvre de nouvelles infrastructures et de nouvelles applications, car les vitesses d’évolution sont très différentes dans ces deux domaines.

Pour les professionnels des SI, le septennat qui démarre c’est... « Le pied ! »

2021 - Key numbers

  • Des solutions pérennes, stables, économiques, à durée de vie longue, sont à ma disposition.
  • La diffusion de ces technologies est universelle : en 2021, six milliards de personnes seront internautes, équipés d’objets mobiles très puissants et environ 50 milliards d’objets seront connectés
  • Pour la première fois dans l’histoire de l’informatique, à chaque nouvelle demande des clients internes et des directions métiers, je pourrai répondre : « No limits ! » :
  •     Puissance de calcul disponible : sans limites.
  •     Vitesse et disponibilité des réseaux sans fil : sans limites.
  •     Capacité de stockage des données, vidéos... : sans limites.

Baisse prix Go:m AWS, MS, GoogleCe graphique, tiré d’un article publié sur Techcrunch en août 2014, confirme, si cela était nécessaire, ce mouvement de fond.

Il visualise la baisse très rapide, dans un rapport 10 entre 2010 et 2014, du coût du Go/mois chez les trois grands des Clouds Publics, AWS, Google et Microsoft. Ce que montre aussi ce graphique, et c’est une excellente nouvelle pour les entreprises clientes, c’est l’alignement des prix entre ces géants industriels. La concurrence a du bon : toute baisse par l’un d’entre eux est immédiatement suivie par les deux autres.

DPC chemin de compostèle S 5464401Ces messages, les professionnels des SI doivent prendre leur bâton de pèlerin et les marteler auprès de leurs clients internes. 

Il faudra beaucoup d’efforts pour vaincre l’incrédulité de tous les responsables métiers et clients internes qui avaient pris l’habitude, chaque fois qu’ils faisaient une demande aux équipes informatiques, d’avoir trop souvent la même réponse : « NON ! ».

  

Quelles innovations, entre 2014 et 2021 ?

Quand nous regardons 2007 depuis 2014, on se demande comment nous pouvions travailler dans un monde où smartphones, réseaux haut débit sans fil, tablettes, Facebook, solutions SaaS, mémorisation de tous nos contenus dans le Cloud n’existaient pas.

En 2021, quand nous regarderons 2014, nous nous poserons la même question : comment faisions-nous pour travailler sans les solutions a, b, c... qui nous paraissent indispensables et qui n’étaient pas disponibles en 2014.

2007 - 2014 - 2021Est-ce que je connais ces solutions a, b, c ... ? Non !

Est-ce que cela pose problème ? Non !

La veille technologique sera réalisée par... le grand public qui fera le tri dans les centaines d’innovations qui vont apparaître pendant ce septennat. Les entreprises n’auront qu’à observer ce qui se passe sur le marché grand public pour y trouver les solutions d’infrastructures et d’usages qu’elles déploieront pour leurs clients internes.

En attendant, nous avons beaucoup de pain sur la planche pour mettre en œuvre toutes les solutions déjà opérationnelles, aujourd’hui, en 2014.

Cette mise à niveau immédiate a un autre avantage : elle nous permettra aussi d’être plus rapidement opérationnels pour déployer les nouvelles technologies qui se banaliseront entre 2014 et 2021.

 

Culture, organisation, changement : encore beaucoup de pierres sur le chemin de 2021

DPC old Climbing road S 15104963Sept années passionnantes, mais ardues ; c’est ce qui attend les entreprises qui vont moderniser leur SI entre 2014 et 2021.

L’une des plus grandes difficultés ? Ne pas reproduire avec les solutions innovantes les modèles liés à l’Ancien Monde.

Une fois de plus, l’industrie automobile nous permet de mieux comprendre ce qui va se passer en informatique.

Les premières voitures à moteur n’étaient que des voitures à cheval où l’on avait enlevé les chevaux pour les remplacer par un moteur.

Old Cars EvolutionIl a fallu attendre des dizaines d’années pour que les références aux voitures à cheval disparaissent.

L’évolution des voitures Google sans conducteur à été beaucoup plus rapide. Les premiers modèles, en 2011, n’étaient que des voitures « classiques » auxquelles on avait rajouté de l’intelligence pour permettre, par exemple, à des personnes non voyantes de retrouver leur indépendance, comme on le voit sur ces images.

Google Cars EvolutionDès 2014, trois ans seulement après les premiers modèles, Google a présenté un modèle « natif sans conducteur » ; il n’y a plus ni volant ni pédales, car l’informatique qui conduit... n’en a plus besoin.

Au début, je suis persuadé que beaucoup de personnes préfèreront monter dans une voiture Google « classique » que dans ces nouveaux modèles où ils auront perdu leurs repères.

Les mêmes questions se poseront lorsque les entreprises basculeront sur des solutions nativement Cloud et R2I. 

DPC signs without names S 30886104Où sont passés mes ERP, mes autocoms, mes téléphones de bureau, mes firewalls, mes centres de calcul privés, mes réseaux MPLS, mes... ?

Directions métiers, clients internes, informaticiens, nous devrons tous accepter de perdre une grande partie de nos « repères informatiques historiques » pour vraiment tirer partie des potentiels de cette R2I. 

Les deux plus grands freins historiques au déploiement de solutions informatiques vont rapidement disparaître : 

  • La technologie : les solutions innovantes sont disponibles et fonctionnent très bien.
  • Les budgets : ces nouvelles solutions sont beaucoup plus économiques que celles qu’elles remplacent.
