REDWOOD CITY, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 08/21/14 -- Icontrol Networks announced today that Piper was named a finalist in the M2M, IoT, Sensors, RFID & NFC category of CTIA's annual Emerging Technology (E-Tech) Awards competition and the Connected Home category of the Hot for the Holidays Awards competition. Representing the most innovative and cutting-edge emerging mobile services, solutions and technology, the E-Tech Awards finalists feature the best in areas such as network equipment, M2M and the Internet of Things and the cloud, while the Hot for the Holidays Awards recognize the hottest mobile consumer electronics, including gadgets and accessories from entertainment and health to the connected car and home ahead of the holiday buying season.
Piper is the first all-in-one home security, video monitoring and automation device that combines an HD camera, HD panoramic video, Z-Wave home automation, lighting scheduling and control, and environmental sensors into a single, elegant product that you interact with via the Piper app on iOS or Android smartphone or tablet. Piper was also named an International CES Innovations 2014 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree in early January 2014 for its intelligent design and simple yet powerful technology.
"We are honored that Piper was selected as a finalist for both the E-Tech and Hot for the Holidays Awards -- two very different categories," said Russell Ure, creator of Piper and Executive Vice President and GM at Icontrol Networks. "Piper is gaining great traction in the consumer marketplace and we're thrilled that it's being recognized as both a cutting-edge mobile technology as well as an easy-to-use gadget for everyone -- from home owners and renters to parents to small businesses."
"CTIA awards recognize the best and most innovative products and services for wireless companies looking to improve their operations and their engagement with their customers. Perfectly positioned for retailers to prepare for the holiday buying season, Super Mobility Week attendees will see what will be the next hottest devices and services," said Robert Mesirow, CTIA Vice President and Show Director.
Along with CTIA's other awards program, MobITs Awards, there were almost 300 entries submitted and scored by more than 50 industry experts, analysts and media.
Super Mobility Week attendees and online users will also have the opportunity to choose a "Crowd Favorite" by voting for their favorite product, not just finalists, in each program. Online voting is open now and runs until Monday, September 8 at 5:00 p.m. ET. Super Mobility Week attendees can still vote via text onsite starting September 8 until 10:00 a.m. ET Wednesday, September 10.
Super Mobility Week will take place September 9, 10 & 11, 2014 at the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas. The E-Tech Awards ceremony will take place Wednesday, September 10 from 12:30 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Studio C, and the Hot for the Holidays Awards ceremony will take place at the Connected Life Zone stage Wednesday, September 10 from 1:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

The Internet of Things will challenge the status quo of how IT and development organizations operate. Or will it? Today we can collect lots and lots of performance data. We build beautiful dashboards and even have fancy query languages to access and transform the data. Still performance data is a secret language only a couple of people understand. The more business becomes digital the more stakeholders are interested in this data including how it relates to business. Some of these people have never used a monitoring tool before. They have a question on their mind like “How is my application doing” but no id...
