FRAMINGHAM, MA -- (Marketwired) -- 09/16/14 -- Active Broadband Networks, an innovative supplier of software-defined networking solutions for broadband service delivery, today announced that it will demonstrate telemetry-driven service intelligence and Big Data analytics at the upcoming SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2014.
The company will be demonstrating its Active Resource Manager software, which incorporates support for IP flow telemetry data collection, Big Data storage and powerful business intelligence tools. The ARM implements both the IP Flow Export (IPFIX) and NetFlow protocols for collecting IP flow telemetry and provides enhanced visibility into service and application utilization without requiring the deployment of additional network probes or Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) elements. The ARM also features a high-performance Big Data storage architecture that scales to support millions of customer devices in a linear, pay-as-you-grow fashion.
"As the demands placed on their broadband networks continue to grow, cable operators need cost-effective solutions for gaining better visibility into network, service and application utilization," said Adam Dunstan, CEO of Active Broadband. "By incorporating IP flow telemetry and Big Data technology, the Active Resource Manager provides operators with fine-grained, real-time visibility into how their network is being used so they can better manage network capacity and service delivery in order to ensure customer Quality-of-Experience."
The demonstration will showcase the Big Data capabilities of the ARM using Pentaho Big Data Analytics, which is integrated and delivered with the software. This suite of powerful, intuitive business intelligence tools simplifies Big Data reporting and analytics, allowing operators to translate network telemetry into actionable business insights. Pentaho makes it easy for operators to create:
- Dashboards for graphical, at-a-glance information
- Interactive reports, with easy-to-use drag-and-drop tools for user-created reports
- Visualizations, for displaying information in order to gain insight into business or operational trends
With an operator's broadband network infrastructure holding a wealth of valuable telemetry data, these reporting and analytics tools allow operators to perform operational and discovery Big Data analytics on this data for network operations, network engineering, and product planning, so they can closely monitor network conditions, better understand customer behavior, and track service and application usage trends.
Active Broadband's demonstration will take place at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2014, Booth #1527, September 22-25, 2014 in Denver, Colorado. Active Broadband CEO Adam Dunstan will also be speaking at the show at the "Application of SDN and NFV in the Service Provider Delivery Network" workshop session on Monday, September 22nd from 2:00-3:00 p.m.
