Avnet Technology Solutions Introduces New Converged Infrastructure Solutions Leveraging Its Unique SAP HANA and Cisco Expertise

Avnet Technology Solutions, the global IT solutions distribution leader and an operating group of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), today announced its next generation of converged infrastructure solutions powered by the 3rd Generation Intel® Core Processors – Ivy Bridge. Featuring SAP HANA®, Cisco® data center technology and industry-leading storage, these solutions harness the power of in-memory computing to allow companies to store, process and analyze large data sets in real time. Available exclusively through Avnet’s channel partners, the new converged infrastructure solutions will initially be offered in the U.S. and Canada.

“Avnet’s new solutions are ideal for companies looking to manage big data, cloud computing and mobility in a converged infrastructure,” said Pete Rzonca, vice president and general manager, Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas, Cisco Solutions group. “Our new Cisco SAP HANA solutions are fully integrated, tested, validated and certified, and preloaded with the SAP HANA software. Avnet partners can now offer a next-generation SAP HANA solution to their customers with increased processing speeds, helping them to extract more value from their data, which can be used to make better business decisions.”

These high-performance analytics solutions combine SAP’s intelligent use of in-memory computing and Cisco® blade and rack servers with large-memory capacity, networking and virtualization. Additionally, partners’ customers can select one of two storage options, EMC VNX5400 or NetApp FAS8040, to provide support for up to 16 terabytes (TB) of optimized data. These Avnet-developed solutions provide cost-efficient processing and analysis of large amounts of data in real time, giving customers the ability to gain insight instantly into business operations, respond quickly to changing priorities and reduce the costs associated with the deployment of multiple data warehouses.

Avnet is the market leader in bringing complex, multi-vendor converged systems to life, and it is the exclusive provider of Cisco’s SAP HANA appliances. Avnet’s expert team provides partners with a simplified, fully integrated, validated, certified solution with SAP HANA software, operating system, and customer information preloaded onto high-performance appliances. By providing fully integrated solutions, Avnet helps partners accelerate their time to market, while reducing the risks and investments associated with developing these capabilities in house.

“Avnet-Cisco have created a winning solution to help partners efficiently meet their business needs, while accelerating existing investments in infrastructure, tools and applications,” said Dave Kloempken, global director of data center solutions sales, Cisco. “The alliance between Avnet and Cisco takes advantage of each team’s unique expertise in complex integration, quality testing and supply chain acceleration to fuel the ecosystem and create a true end-to-end solution. The comprehensive suite of services and enablement that Avnet provides its channel partners ensures that this will become a market-leading solution.”

Avnet will provide partners with a wide variety of support services to assist them in expanding their converged infrastructure capabilities. These services include pre-sales support, solution-level quoting, complex integration, and programs to capture incremental revenue in high-growth markets.

“SAP HANA will help improve GDT’s internal business process by streamlining workflow and creating process efficiencies that will in turn benefit our overall customer experience,” said Deanna Davenport, project manager, GDT. “With Avnet’s new appliances we look forward to providing our customers with big data and analytics solutions quickly and cost-effectively that are tailored to their unique business requirements. We also know that in the future we can always turn to Avnet for assistance at any stage in the SAP HANA solution lifecycle, from helping to determine the customer need through to the operations support and enablement.”
