Accelera Teams with Carpathia To Win NATO Seasparrow Contract

Carpathia managed services and IBX Vault enable secure and compliant delivery of hybrid cloud solution

DULLES, Va., Sept. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Carpathia, a trusted cloud operator and leading provider of compliant cloud services and managed hosting, announced that Accelera Solutions, Inc, a Fairfax, Virginia based cloud and virtualization solution provider, teamed with Carpathia to win a $3.1 million contract for information technology support for the NATO Seasparrow program. Carpathia provided compliant managed services delivered via its IBX Vault, one of the industry's most advanced, secure and federally compliant data centers, to support Accelera's hybrid cloud solution.

"Carpathia's government and technology expertise played a critical role in the Accelera team winning the Seasparrow award," said Joe Brown, President of Accelera Solutions. "From start to finish, Carpathia was a true partner in the process, enabling us to deliver NATO the best overall combination of quality, value, and technical capability to help them deliver on their mission objectives."

NATO's Seasparrow program began 44 years ago when four countries—Denmark, Italy, Norway and the United States—signed a historic memorandum of understanding to form a state-of-the-art naval missile defense system. The program has since grown to a global initiative that includes 12 member nations. For the contract, the Seasparrow program desired a new hybrid cloud environment that could support Microsoft applications, continuity of operations, overcome the limitations of a physical environment, and enable the development and deployment new and enhanced platforms and services.

Carpathia worked with Accelera to develop a hybrid cloud solution based on Accelera's unique Secure Optimized Cloud architecture, a private cloud built to FISMA NIST 800-53 Moderate controls for security and data protection. Taking the burden off of the program office, Carpathia and its IBX Vault were chosen to support all of the infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), network, and systems management functions including facilities, hardware, bandwidth, network management, and back-up management.

"We worked closely with the Accelera team to deliver a solution that could meet NATO's extensive purpose-built security controls, continuous monitoring, and complete certification and accreditation requirements," said Stu Fleagle, Vice President Carpathia Government Solutions.  "We are pleased our deep government expertise and federally secure and compliant IBX Vault helped the team secure this prestigious Seasparrow contract."

Machine learning has taken residence at our cities' cores and now we can finally have "smart cities." Cities are a collection of buildings made to provide the structure and safety necessary for people to function, create and survive. Buildings are a pool of ever-changing performance data from large automated systems such as heating and cooling to the people that live and work within them. Through machine learning, buildings can optimize performance, reduce costs, and improve occupant comfort by ...
The explosion of new web/cloud/IoT-based applications and the data they generate are transforming our world right before our eyes. In this rush to adopt these new technologies, organizations are often ignoring fundamental questions concerning who owns the data and failing to ask for permission to conduct invasive surveillance of their customers. Organizations that are not transparent about how their systems gather data telemetry without offering shared data ownership risk product rejection, regu...

Poor data quality and analytics drive down business value. In fact, Gartner estimated that the average financial impact of poor data quality on organizations is $9.7 million per year. But bad data is much more than a cost center. By eroding trust in information, analytics and the business decisions based on these, it is a serious impediment to digital transformation.

Predicting the future has never been more challenging - not because of the lack of data but because of the flood of ungoverned and risk laden information. Microsoft states that 2.5 exabytes of data are created every day. Expectations and reliance on data are being pushed to the limits, as demands around hybrid options continue to grow.

Enterprises have taken advantage of IoT to achieve important revenue and cost advantages. What is less apparent is how incumbent enterprises operating at scale have, following success with IoT, built analytic, operations management and software development capabilities - ranging from autonomous vehicles to manageable robotics installations. They have embraced these capabilities as if they were Silicon Valley startups.
As IoT continues to increase momentum, so does the associated risk. Secure Device Lifecycle Management (DLM) is ranked as one of the most important technology areas of IoT. Driving this trend is the realization that secure support for IoT devices provides companies the ability to deliver high-quality, reliable, secure offerings faster, create new revenue streams, and reduce support costs, all while building a competitive advantage in their markets. In this session, we will use customer use cases...
