Panda Software will be introducing early version of its TruPrevent antivirus technology early in an effort to curb the insurgence of new viruses. The antivirus software known as TruPrevent was release late last week for home, small business, and professional users.
This technology suite will be installed in all of Panda’s antivirus applications by year’s end.
Panda explained the reasoning for the premature release. Sarita Stachelrodt, GM Panda Software US commented, "While Panda Software will officially release its full solutions later this year, this technology is needed now and we are able to release this stand alone solution now for computer users to help against the onslaught of attacks that computer users are having to deal with today. We felt it very important to help the user and release an early version of this new category of protection now to further protect our users and users of other antivirus solutions.”
The new technology was brought on in large measure to quell the concerns of IT security managers who expressed concern over new versions of viruses, like I-Worm.Mydoom, which can spread at unheard of rates since they often search domain names contained within a system. Most antivirus programs can seek out and render a virus harmless once its particular signature is known. However, Panda’s TruPrevent actually anticipates virus and can preemptively guard a system in this manner.
According to Pedro Bustamante, Chief Marketing Officer at Panda Software: "TruPrevent Technologies are a genuine answer to the need for greater security against new Internet threats that are too fast spreading for a human response to be effective. This has been demonstrated with the new and dangerous Bagle.AH and Mydoom.N worms which were blocked by TruPrevent Technologies before they could take any malicious action. These technologies hail a new era for IT security.”
TruPrevent is able to predict impending virus attacks on the basis of behavioral patterns executed on the computer. Thus it can stop infections like BugBear, Nimda, SirCam or LoveLetter, even if not detected previously. Also, TruPrevent can run with antivirus software from other countries.
