The enhancements are all designed to further secure all enterprise applications. This is the first major release since Tarantella introduced Secure Global Desktop in August 3, 2004.
Now, Web services APIs have been added to enable the seamless integration of Enterprise Edition 4 with portals and other Web applications. Tarantella is leveraging the power of service oriented architectures (SOA), offering a rich set of programming interfaces that allow customers access to enterprise applications, securely and remotely with EE 4, with one click from their existing portals.
Applications can now be launched by URLs. Applications in Secure Global Desktop EE 4 are launched by standard URLs. This makes it easy to bookmark applications. A configuration wizard walks the user through the initial setup and configuration of Secure Global Desktop EE 4.
Secure Global Desktop EE is paired with Secure Global Desktop Terminal Services Edition (TSE), to fill out the Tarantella Secure Global Desktop family of products. The Secure Global Desktop is a leading secure application access product family that meets the needs of today's agile enterprise, from Microsoft-only IT infrastructures to diverse environments that also include Linux, UNIX, IBM 3xxx and AS/400. With native support for standards such as Java, LDAP, SSL/SSH, X11 and RDP, the Secure Global Desktop family is the platform of choice for supporting secure access to the widest range of applications from the largest assortment of devices.
