Solid Data Announces Expansion of Professional Services Organization to Meet Increased Demand for Solid State Disk (SSD) Solutio

SANTA CLARA, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 01/29/08 -- Solid Data Systems, Inc., the leading global provider of DRAM-based enterprise and carrier-class solid state disk (SSD) storage systems, today announced the expansion of their Professional Services Organization. This group specializes in consulting services to optimize the use of SSDs in high transaction rate applications, and is a reflection of the increased use of SSDs as the core storage for these applications.

In the new organizational structure, the professional services team will be led by Mark Hayashida and aligned by vertical industry expertise. Key vertical industries of focus include financial services, on-line retailing, and telecommunications. Industry leaders in these areas benefit greatly from Solid Data SSD solutions. These are proven solutions that capitalize on Solid Data's years of experience in these industries.

The Solid Data Professional Services program offers free initial phone consultation, on-site architectural assessment and evaluation, and technical and cost analysis on proposed SSD-based architectural solutions.

"The increasing transaction rates driven by the Internet and wireless mobile services have heralded a new age of memory-based storage," said Wade Tuma, CEO of Solid Data Systems. "Our goal is to provide our customers with the most reliable and cost-effective approaches to increasing peak transaction rates and server load stability that incorporate the best-in-class of solid state disk (SSD) technology."

"In the past SSDs were often used as quick fixes, only replacing key hot files," said Mark Hayashida, CTO of Solid Data Systems. "The mission of Solid Data Professional Services is to introduce architectures specifically designed around solid state disk storage. These architectures bring more than performance to high transaction rate environments."

"Once the limitation of mechanical disk drives is removed, the resulting systems are simpler, use much less power, and reduce the number of servers required," added Mark. "In addition, peak transaction capacity is dramatically increased, virtually eliminating server crashes due to overload. In properly architected systems the savings more than compensate for the additional cost of the SSD and provide unlimited capacity for future expansion."

Solid Data is the first and only vendor to offer NEBS-certified SSD products for critical telecommunications applications. Solid Data SSDs and StorageSPIRE SSD arrays deploy transparently in the data center and are compatible with current infrastructure, applications, file systems, and storage management software. In addition, Solid Data SSDs use less than half the power of conventional disk or in-server memory architectures, making them an environmentally preferable "green" storage solution.

IoT & Smart Cities Stories
While the focus and objectives of IoT initiatives are many and diverse, they all share a few common attributes, and one of those is the network. Commonly, that network includes the Internet, over which there isn't any real control for performance and availability. Or is there? The current state of the art for Big Data analytics, as applied to network telemetry, offers new opportunities for improving and assuring operational integrity. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Jim Frey, Vice President of S...

Two weeks ago (November 3-5), I attended the Cloud Expo Silicon Valley as a speaker, where I presented on the security and privacy due diligence requirements for cloud solutions. Cloud security is a topical issue for every CIO, CISO, and technology buyer. Decision-makers are always looking for insights on how to mitigate the security risks of implementing and using cloud solutions. Based on the presentation topics covered at the conference, as well as the general discussions heard between sessio...
The Internet of Things is clearly many things: data collection and analytics, wearables, Smart Grids and Smart Cities, the Industrial Internet, and more. Cool platforms like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Intel's Galileo and Edison, and a diverse world of sensors are making the IoT a great toy box for developers in all these areas. In this Power Panel at @ThingsExpo, moderated by Conference Chair Roger Strukhoff, panelists discussed what things are the most important, which will have the most profound e...
The Jevons Paradox suggests that when technological advances increase efficiency of a resource, it results in an overall increase in consumption. Writing on the increased use of coal as a result of technological improvements, 19th-century economist William Stanley Jevons found that these improvements led to the development of new ways to utilize coal. In his session at 19th Cloud Expo, Mark Thiele, Chief Strategy Officer for Apcera, compared the Jevons Paradox to modern-day enterprise IT, examin...
