Vizioncore And DataCore Form Virtualization Technology Alliance

Companies Announce A Joint Disaster Recovery And Offsite Backup Solution

DataCore Software announced it has entered into a Technology Partner Alliance with Vizioncore. DataCore also announced that is has co-authored a white paper with Vizioncore explaining how to deploy a complete solution for implementing an offsite backup that delivers full-fledged disaster recovery (DR). This solution combines two best-of-breed products: Vizioncore's vRanger Pro and SANmelody from DataCore Software Corporation.

“Over the course of the last few years, implementing a disaster recovery project has become a priority for most businesses, regardless of their size,” said Chris Akerberg, vice president of global sales & marketing, Vizioncore. “It is now commonly accepted that although the SMB may not have the same IT budget as large enterprises, they typically have the same imperatives in terms of data protection and availability. Bringing Vizioncore’s and DataCore’s respective products together in an integrated DR/backup and offsite backup solution provides an elegant, reliable and cost effective means for businesses to protect their data and keep their applications available.” Vizioncore products, which include vRanger Pro, vConverter, vCharter and vReplicator enhance virtualization technology by enabling customers to replicate, P2V migrate, back-up, monitor and improve the performance of virtual machines within their overall IT infrastructure.

DataCore Software is an independent software vendor specializing in storage virtualization, storage management, and storage networking. Its software serves as a flexible, storage software foundation for Total Enterprise Virtualization. Vizioncore has set the industry standard for products that protect, monitor and manage virtual machines, particularly in the areas of Disaster Recovery and Virtualization Management.

“DataCore’s SANmelody and Vizioncore’s vRanger Pro products each offer powerful solutions for the datacenter,” said Carlos M. Carreras, vice president of sales and business development, DataCore Software. “SANmelody is an outstanding software solution for implementing full-featured SANs and allows IT professionals to custom build their storage infrastructure according to their needs. And Vizioncore’s vRanger Pro is the essential backup and restore solution for virtual server environments.”

With the advent of server virtualization, many smaller businesses have begun to rethink the feasibility of implementing a DR solution. However, they soon realize that server virtualization alone is not enough. An infrastructure must be put in place to replicate the data to the DR site and make it available for rapidly redeploying the applications. Many hardware and software vendors offer products that can serve as solutions to create the infrastructure, but the solutions vary in terms of complexity, completeness, and reliability.

According to George Teixeira, president and CEO, DataCore Software, “Both companies enable users to better leverage their VMware investments. Vizioncore’s best-of-breed software helps organizations safeguard and optimize their virtualized environments, while DataCore provides all the benefits inherent to a SAN, including attaining higher levels of data protection, business continuity and disaster recovery. This partnership will allow customers to extract the maximum return on their investment in the VMware platform – providing further value and cost savings to customers.”
