Alert Logic announced that it has released version 1.1 of
its flagship log management product, Alert Logic Log Manager. The company also
announced that Log Manager fully leverages the power of grid computing and
virtualization technologies.
Log Manager, a log management solution delivered via a Software-as-a-Service
(SaaS) platform, gives organizations the ability to secure their networks and
comply with regulations such as the Payment Card Industry Data Security
Standard (PCI DSS), Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act (HIPAA), and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA). These
mandates require that log data be collected, regularly reviewed, and securely
archived.
Log Manager 1.1 fully harnesses the power of a grid computing infrastructure.
The grid, hosted in Alert Logic's datacenters, is comprised of arrays of low
cost virtual computing nodes. Each node can act independently to work on small
computing tasks or in concert with other nodes to tackle more computationally
intensive tasks like searching through billions of log events to find a
specific incident.
"Analyzing terabytes of log data is computational heavy lifting. Our grid
puts the power of a supercomputer at the fingertips of our users, when and
where it's needed, to deliver faster search performance than a standalone
appliance could possibly deliver," said Gene Golovinsky, vice president of
research and development at Alert Logic.
"SaaS-based log management is the killer app for cloud-based grid
computing," continued Golovinsky. "With our new grid architecture, no
customer request has to wait to be satisfied and they get as much power as they
need."
New features of Log Manager 1.1 simplify log search and analysis tasks,
enabling organizations to more easily maintain compliance with industry and
government regulations. Some of these features include:
- Optimized Log Search
- Customizable Correlation Rules
- Advanced Management of Log Sources
- Customizable Bandwidth Policy
Alert Logic Log Manager 1.1 is available as an on-demand service.
