Building on its existing leadership in virtualization management, open source Web infrastructure management provider Hyperic Inc., (LinuxWorld Booth #1319), today announced Hyperic HQ for Citrix® XenServer™ enterprise-class management and monitoring software for the popular Citrix XenServer virtualization software. The new software allows XenServer administrators to quickly and correctly assess IT decisions within their XenServer environment. The companies will offer a free joint training webinar Tuesday, August 12th at 8am PDT. To register, visit http://www.hyperic.com/landing/citrix-xen-webinar.html.
For the first time, operations teams have the capability to create a holistic view of their entire Web infrastructure, both inside and outside of the XenServer Hypervisor—extending their ability to manage and analyze utilization, and enabling them to rapidly determine performance bottlenecks and automate management tasks.
“Hyperic HQ provides a seamless, 360 degree view across their XenServer infrastructure, including multiple datacenters, branch offices, and remote locations, making it ideal for enterprise deployments,” said David Roussain, group VP marketing, Virtualization Management Division of Citrix. “With the rapid proliferation of virtualized infrastructure, effectively managing virtual resources is critical to successfully realizing consolidation benefits and datacenter agility goals. IT administrators will find these tools indispensible to achieve their virtualization goals.”
Citrix XenServer is an enterprise-class solution for virtualizing application workloads across any number of servers in the datacenter. It is the first and only solution to address both virtual and physical servers—making the entire datacenter more dynamic. Hyperic HQ for Citrix XenServer augments Citrix XenServer by providing users with a single view into their virtual and non-virtual infrastructure and all the applications running on those environments. The benefits include more comprehensive visibility, straightforward management, and improved capability to optimize dynamic environments virtualized by Citrix XenServer.
“Our customers manage some of the world’s biggest Web environments where every second of downtime can mean losing revenue, users or both. Virtualization software such as Citrix XenServer delivers these organizations the necessary tools to be ultra-responsive to changes in user patterns and application performance,” said Doug MacEachern, CTO for Hyperic HQ. “By adding support for XenServer, we are once again taking the guesswork out of the management side of the equation. In providing management support for all virtualized and non-virtualized systems from one central location, we continue in our mission to make Web-based applications more manageable.”
To help IT operations teams better understand systems management best practices as they apply to XenServer, Hyperic and Citrix will conduct a joint Webinar at 8 am PDT on Tuesday, August 12, 2008. Attendees will learn best practices for capacity planning, alerting, utilization analysis, automating remediation and diagnostics and more. To register, visit http://www.hyperic.com/landing/citrix-xen-webinar.html.
About Hyperic HQ for Citrix XenServer
Hyperic HQ for Citrix XenServer combines performance metrics, log data, configuration and security events in a single view correlated by time. These events can be used to link errors reported in the XenServer logs with other performance and health indicators elsewhere in the environment, generate alerts or trigger automated control actions to remediate the current problem. Additionally, Hyperic HQ for Citrix XenServer allows users to suspend, shutdown, start and reboot directly from the HQ interface and record the action in the event history for future reference.
Currently, Hyperic HQ for Citrix XenServer is available on Hyperic’s community Hyperforge at http://www.hyperic.com/hyperforge/XenServer. Hyperic will incorporate this new plugin directly into the core distribution in the upcoming Hyperic HQ 4.0 release, due out later this summer.
