Integrien Previews VMware-specific Virtualization Capabilities

Software Enables Organizations to Remotely Manage the Health of VMware Infrastructure

Integrien announced new VMware-specific capabilities that will be featured in the next version of its flagship software offering, Alive. Driven by its support for a range of virtual environments, including VMware, Alive addresses the complexities of managing both physical and virtual environments to ensure the entire IT infrastructure effectively supports the performance requirements of mission critical applications and services.

Integrien showcased new analytics and VMware-specific visualizations in Alive that will arm organizations with an even more effective approach to virtual infrastructure performance management. Integrien also announced a new Apple iPhone application that taps into Alive to allow remote VMware performance management.

"One of the biggest issues that VMware administrators face when a mission critical application has been virtualized is that performance problems are immediately blamed on the virtual environment," said Steve Henning, VP of marketing for Integrien. "Because Alive integrates performance data from the entire IT infrastructure and analyzes it holistically, it can isolate performance problems to the true cause. For the first time a VMware administrator can show that the cause of a performance problem is not the VMware environment. Or if it is a virtual environment problem, they'll know exactly what virtual component behavior is causing the problem."

Alive learns the normal behavior of VMware clusters, pools, ESX servers and virtual machines and uses its advanced analytics to understand the complex interactions that lead to problems, providing visibility into the health of the overall VMware environment. New analytics in Alive determine an overall health score for the infrastructure components that support an application or service, including the VMware components. Alive goes into action as soon as it determines that a problem is brewing in an application or service by delivering a single Smart Alert indicating the root cause, whether in the VMware infrastructure or in another IT silo.

Integrien Alive makes proactive VMware performance management easy, as it:

  • Instantly isolates root cause of performance problems
  • Predicts pending performance problems hours before they occur
  • Automates threshold management through intelligent baselines
  • Proactively manages VMware health from an Apple iPhone
  • Operates seamlessly in a hybrid virtual/physical environment
