MILPITAS, Calif., March 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- GoRemote Internet Communications, Inc. , a leading provider of managed secure remote access solutions, today introduced GoRemote Express(TM), a comprehensive, non-intrusive solution for managing enterprise applications and patch deployment. Through a one-click, end-user installation process, enterprises can enforce security policies for updating security software, operating system patches, anti-virus definition files, and other software updates required for continuous security compliance and accelerate the deployment time frame from months to weeks.
By simplifying the deployment process through a reduced number download and installation steps, GoRemote Express can help companies more rapidly realize the value of GoRemote Mobile Office(TM), GoRemote Teleworker(TM), and GoRemote Total Security Protection(TM). GoRemote Express enables companies to manage and have complete visibility to the entire deployment process from a single Web portal, eliminating the need to send out large file attachments or CDs to thousands of users. GoRemote Express deployments can centrally be managed and configured by the IT department, eliminating the need for end-users to self-manage complex download and installation procedures. Additionally, for large application deployments, GoRemote Express completely manages the download process and will resume download and installation if the connection is interrupted due to various causes, including poor network connectivity or lack of time.
"GoRemote Express enabled Sun Healthcare to successfully deploy pre-configured mobility software to nearly 1,000 people in 3 weeks, which would have been impossible with our previous system or with traditional deployment methods," said Zachary Grant, senior network engineer, overseeing the Network Operations for Sun Healthcare Group. "GoRemote Express has given us significant cost savings and provides the most effective approach to manage our deployment process, enabling Sun Healthcare to focus on our ability to deliver quality healthcare products and services to thousands of people on a daily basis."
"Deploying and upgrading internal applications, especially those pertaining to security policies, has always presented many challenges to IT managers, and those challenges become magnified with remote access solutions," said Tom Thimot, President and CEO of GoRemote. "GoRemote Express addresses these 'pain points,' and enables organizations to re-focus IT resources on mission-critical issues instead of managing and troubleshooting deployment problems. Already recognizing the benefits of the GoRemote Branch Office solution, Sun Healthcare was able to replace their existing mobility system and to begin experiencing the value of GoRemote Mobile Office in a matter of weeks by using GoRemote Express."
Simplified Software Download and Installation
Whether using PCs or laptops, end-users typically go through multiple steps to complete the download and installation of new software. This time-consuming process carries a high potential for errors that can trigger multiple calls to already overburdened IT help desks. With GoRemote Express, the end-user receives a URL and registers to download a small file. Once the download is complete, the user can initiate and complete the installation in one click by launching the downloaded file. For patch deployment, the process is further simplified and requires minimal user intervention.
Improved End Point Security with Patch Management
Deploying new patches is a critical step in assuring that all end points maintain the necessary security software to minimize vulnerability. The GoRemote Express patch management module provides customers with a Web portal where the administrator can post patches to be deployed and view, in real time, the list of users that have installed the new patch. End point reports permit the administrator to have visibility to all the applications that are currently running on each laptop or desktop. Auditing this list allows customers to set targeted updates and facilitate end-user support.
GoRemote Express features include: -- Application Auto-launch via a Split File Process -- With only 140KB published to the desktop, the end-user experience is simplified and reduces IT support time while accelerating deployment time. -- Installation Sequencing -- The process is simple: uninstall legacy software, install the new program or install multiple programs, and reboot the system. For organizations, this dramatically accelerates the deployment process for a fast return on investment. -- Patch Management -- IT and network managers can enforce security compliance by easily posting, deploying, and viewing installation progress report for patches. -- Detailed End Point Reporting -- IT and network managers can remotely receive an inventory of software and hardware of the organization's computer pool. This simplifies end-user support and provides important data for system upgrade planning. -- Real-time Reporting -- Through the GoRemote Universal Remote Control(TM) Web portal, IT and network managers have real-time access to the status of downloads throughout the enterprise providing for efficient enterprise application deployment. Real-time reports include the user name, date, name of downloaded file, time of download, and method of connection. -- Hosted Service -- An option for storing large applications, this service frees the enterprise from the cost and time of self-hosting. -- Support of Large Deployments and Bandwidth Management -- Several thousand users can be deployed within a few weeks, and the download agent will resume an interrupted download from point of interruption. -- Microsoft Windows Support -- With support for Windows 98, 2000, XP, and Windows Server 2003, GoRemote Express easily integrates with Windows to facilitate quick and easy installation.
"As the only single-source provider of comprehensive solutions for mobile workers, teleworkers and branch offices, GoRemote continues to expand our proven track record of providing rapid return on investment with GoRemote Express," continued Thimot.
