Quest Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: QSFT) announced that Quest vWorkspace, formerly Provision Networks Virtual Access Suite, received two SYS-CON Virtualization Journal Readers’ Choice Awards in the categories of “Best Desktop Virtualization Platform” and “Best VDI – Virtual Desktop Infrastructure.” Known as the “Oscars of the Software Industry,” the SYS-CON Readers’ Choice Awards has been one of the industry’s most prestigious award programs for more than a decade.
“Quest vWorkspace uniquely offers customers a proven desktop deployment and application delivery platform for end-to-end lifecycle management, coupled with an Experience Optimized Protocol (EOP) for a true, local PC-like experience,” said Paul Ghostine, vice president and general manager, Quest Desktop Virtualization Group. “To have the readers of SYS-CON Virtualization Journal recognize the distinct benefits we offer for the virtual desktop infrastructure is a true honor and further underscores the value of our solution.”
Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust uses Quest vWorkspace to allow clinicians to access patient records via the hospital’s bedside interactive systems. “The solution allows medical and nursing staff to increase the time they spend on patient care, giving patients more of the individual attention they require, by reducing the need to log in and out of numerous systems,” said Russell Banks, head of IT, Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust. “Other benefits include the reduction of the endless administrative paper trail, freeing up revenue which can now be invested into other areas of improving patient care.”
The two SYS-CON Reader’s Choice Awards follow vWorkspace’s recognition from SearchServerVirtualization.com as a Best of VMworld 2008 Finalist Award winner in the Desktop Virtualization category.
The Virtualization Journal Readers' Choice Awards recognize the best tools, solutions and platform offerings in 18 categories. Winners were selected through reader-submitted nominations, followed by online voting at SYS-CON Media's Virtualization Journal online magazine site.
