EMC Buys Configuresoft

The transaction is expected to close next month

EMC Wednesday said it's buying Configuresoft, the makers of server configuration, change and compliance management software, on undisclosed terms. The transaction is expected to close next month and have little impact on EMC's results this year.

EMC traced the acquisition to its year-old OEM relationship with the 10-year-old privately held Colorado concern which resulted in EMC Server Configuration Manager and EMC Configuration Analytics Manager, reportedly virtualization boosters.

Configuresoft and most of its roughly 150 people will become a part of EMC's Resource Management Software Group. It is believed to count Citigroup, ExxonMobil, Intel, Qwest Communications and Britain's Ministry of Defense among its customers.

It was backed by JMI Equity.
