Wipro Technologies, the India based IT Service company, has announced that it revamped and expanded its remote managed services center located in Bangalore, India. According to Wipro, "The center has some $5 million worth of new generation technology and tool sets, giving customers a technology agnostic, secure managed services environment. The center, was first launched in September 2002 to provide remote managed services. Wipro's 72 other offshore delivery centers, with some 7,000 staff serve 165 customers including Shell, TUI, Honeywell, Akzo Nobel and Lehman". The center aims to tackle problems such as unauthorized distribution of passwords, un-monitored access to and tampering of critical applications as the biggest challenge. In a poll conducted by Wipro with analyst firm, Everest Group's Outsourcing Center, some 39% of the respondents, among potential outsourcers say that lack of a real-time view of operations and limited visibility into the business impact was a big concern. G K Prasanna, Senior Vice President of Wipro Technologies, said, "The center has several advanced features: A 'password vault' gives one time access to restrict password sharing; a 'sick-system only access' ensures that systems that do not have a problem cannot be touched; and a multi-location service delivery for robust risk mitigation and 'business impact reporting'". Suresh Vaswani, President of Wipro Technologies says, "Our new Global Command Center has been designed to specifically address some of the key issues that clients face when they outsource remote infrastructure management." "Wipro is the top provider of remote infrastructure management services from India, and our vision is to emerge as one of the top 10 infrastructure management service providers globally. We are investing significantly in both near shore and offshore infrastructure and technological capabilities."
